Russian Daniil Medvedev scored his first victory since July in a match against American Nishesh Basavareddi, and reached the quarterfinals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament in Hangzhou.

For the 29-year-old Russian, the victory over Basavareddi was the first since July 30, when he won a second-round match at a tournament in Toronto against Czech Dalibor Svrchin. Since then, Medvedev has not won a competition, losing in Cincinnati and the US Open.

Medvedev is ranked 18th in the ATP world rankings and has 20 association titles to his credit, including winning the US Open in 2021.
