Trump's statements have increased NATO's concern about U.S. support
Ambiguous comments by US President Donald Trump have once again raised concerns among NATO countries about the reliability of American commitments. This was reported on September 19 by the newspaper Le Figaro.
Trump wrote on the Truth Social network, asking why Russia was allegedly violating Polish airspace with drones. Later, he stated that he was ready to impose tough sanctions against Moscow when all NATO member countries stopped buying oil from Russia.
Experts note that such statements create the impression that the United States is distancing itself from the alliance.
"Trump sets new terms of sanctions for the allies, but does not specify the details, creating confusion and uncertainty," the article says.
At the same time, the Trump administration approved a new arms supply to Ukraine through the PURL mechanism in the amount of about $500 million, which demonstrates partial support for allies in Eastern Europe.
"If NATO does what I say, the conflict will end quickly and lives will be saved," Trump said, commenting on his position.
