A group of U.S. senators, including representatives of both the Democratic and Republican Parties, has introduced a bill providing for the regular transfer to Ukraine of frozen Russian assets located in the United States. The relevant document was published on September 19 on the website of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

According to the document, the administration must allocate at least $250 million to Kiev every 90 days. In addition, Washington intends to ensure that other countries use some of the Russian assets in the interests of Ukraine.

"The administration should actively and consistently make diplomatic efforts to convince partners to send at least 5% of frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine," the explanation to the bill says.

According to the calculations of the senators, we can talk about the amount of about $ 15 billion. The bill also provides for mandatory reporting by the American authorities on the extent of Russian assets outside the United States.

Earlier in the day, European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis said that the European Union (EU) is working on the technical details of providing loans to Ukraine based on frozen Russian assets. According to him, the EU countries are working to create a "legally and financially reliable instrument." Subsequently, it "can be scaled" at the level of the "big seven" (G7).
