Scandalous book on sex education Tur Leja has been re-released in Latvia
A book on sex education for preschool children called Tur Leja ("Down There") has been re-released in Latvia. Ramona Petravich, a member of the party and a deputy of the Sejm, told about its contents on the TikTok social network.
It is reported that the children's book contains images of the process of conceiving children. Petravicha noted that the illustrations are presented in a clearly sexual manner.
In addition, the publication contains information about non-traditional relationships and LGBT people (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). So, on the pages of the book, they try to explain to children, for example, what a transgender or intersex person means.
"There is nothing that a three—year-old child wants to tell," Petravicha concluded.
This is not the first time that Tur Leja has caused a mixed reaction in Latvian society. As early as 2023, the police conducted a review of the book's contents after complaints, but then experts found no violations of the law. Currently, the publication can be freely purchased in stores or found in the library.
Earlier, Petravicha also said that in Latvia, deputies of the Seimas from the Latvia in the First Place party had prepared amendments at a closed meeting designed to prohibit minors from participating in events that promote LGBT ideas and values. According to her, children should not participate in such events, because they do not understand "where they are led at all." The MP noted that such events lead to the fact that children from an early age lay the foundation for the fact that they can change their gender.
On June 28, Petravica called for the country's Constitution to enshrine the provision on the existence of only two sexes. According to her, the claims about "hundreds and thousands" of sexes are absurd, and the vote in the Seimas showed that society has no unity on this issue.
