This fall, residents of European countries have become less likely to book trips to the United States. The reason was the duties imposed by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Bloomberg on September 19.

"Carriers across the United States are trying to fill economy class seats on international routes," the agency said, citing the vice chairman of American Airlines Group Inc. Steve Johnson.

According to the aviation analytical company Cirium, air traffic from Germany decreased by 13% compared to last year, from Spain — by 9%, and Italy — by 7.6%. The number of bookings from the UK decreased by 4.9%, from France — by 2.9%.

Earlier, on September 18, Trump said that only the United States can impose duties against other countries. In his opinion, the duties work because "people simply have nowhere to go." As the American leader pointed out, the duties he imposed will attract investments of more than $17 trillion this year.
