Roads washed out in Dagestan due to heavy rains
Roads were washed out in the city of Makhachkala in the Republic of Dagestan due to heavy rains. This was reported by Izvestia on September 20.
"Some parts of the city have turned into real lakes. Hamidov and Lenin corner — there is always a lot of traffic here. But today it is a small reservoir that can only be crossed by swimming," said Daniyal Asaev, a correspondent for Izvestia.
It is noted that residents of the city are trying to get to their homes almost by swimming, someone is trying to cope with the flood by car. This can be seen in the Izvestia footage.
"Two brigades are involved at the intersection of Hamidov and Primakov streets. Work is also continuing on Peter the Great Avenue and H. Bulacha Street until the flooding is completely eliminated. Unfortunately, the work is becoming more complicated due to the increased rain," said Acting Mayor of Makhachkala Dzhambulat Salavov in a Telegram channel.
Earlier, on September 19, it was reported that heavy rains in Dagestan led to flooding of streets in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk and Izberbash, significantly impeding the movement of vehicles. Heavy rainfall creates problems on roads where storm drainage systems cannot cope with the flow of water. Operational management groups of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation are working on the ground, and city services are eliminating the consequences of the disaster.
