The U.S. Senate has confirmed the candidacy of former U.S. President Donald Trump's security adviser Mike Waltz as Permanent Chairman of the United States at the United Nations (UN).

According to the results of the vote, which was broadcast on September 19 by C-Span, 47 senators voted in support of Waltz. 43 people spoke out against it.

The proposal to nominate Waltz for the relevant post was made more than four months ago.

On September 17, Reuters reported that the U.S. Senate had approved Waltz's candidacy for the position of permanent representative of the country to the United Nations. For this purpose, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee considered 36 candidates. It was noted that the voting took place along party lines.
