Russia ensures the safety of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in accordance with its international obligations, despite the constant attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on September 19 by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Despite the incessant attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia ensures the safety of the NPP in full compliance with its national legislation, as well as the international obligations assumed by our country," the document says on the agency's website.

In this way, the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the adoption of the resolution "Nuclear safety, physical nuclear safety and guarantees in Ukraine" initiated by Canada and Ukraine, which was approved at the 69th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The ministry stressed that the document is purely anti-Russian in nature and calls into question the territorial integrity of Russia. The application of guarantees at the NPP will be possible only if the Russian Federation adds the station to the list of peaceful nuclear installations. Moscow did not make such a decision.

"We emphasize that there is no "mission" of the IAEA at the NPP. A group of the agency's secretariat staff is at the station at the invitation of our country. Their main task is to record Kiev's provocations against the station and its adjacent facilities. <...> Any additional demands from the agency in this regard are unacceptable," the Foreign Ministry said.

It is added that the adopted provocative anti-Russian resolution went far beyond the scope of the IAEA statute, and therefore is politically and legally null and void for Russia.

On September 12, the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, drew attention to the fact that the leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency was not responding to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attacks on the nuclear power plant. According to him, the IAEA should take steps to prevent the nuclear threat posed by the Kiev regime.
