The economist named a way to solve the problems of the French economy

Having reached a budget deficit that is almost twice the EU norm of 3%, French President Emmanuel Macron and his government have shown that they cannot cope with the economic development of the country. Vasily Koltashov, an economist and head of the Center for Political Economy Studies, shared this belief with Izvestia.

"The French economy remains very expensive and inefficient. The only solution for her now is not even getting rid of Macron and his colleagues, but returning to franc," he explained.

In addition, the state needs to stop its aggressive foreign policy and the search for external means to solve domestic French problems — according to Koltashov, they simply do not exist.

"Neither Belarus nor Russia will go to the feet of Macron-Bonaparte. This is not going to happen. It's time to calm down, it's time to leave Ukraine, and all the money that was spent on it should be spent on solving France's economic problems. And, of course, we need to leave the European Union," he concluded.

According to Koltashov, if France decides to take measures to overcome the crisis, it will face a difficult path. The introduction of reforms, however painful, will be able to shorten this distance.

"The path that France is following now, under the banner of Macron and the fight against Russia, is much longer and longer. He will still lead France to painful economic measures, but it will be very, very uncomfortable in the process. The population's financial difficulties, budgetary difficulties, and problems of French production will increase," the economist concluded.
