On September 19, US President Donald Trump announced that he had held very productive talks with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, during which progress was made on many issues.
"I have just completed a very productive telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. We have made progress on many important issues, including trade, fentanyl, the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and the approval of the TikTok agreement," the American leader wrote on his Truth Social network page.
Trump added that he had agreed to meet with the Chinese leader at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea. They also discussed his visit to China, scheduled for early 2026, with Xi Jinping promising to return to the United States at a convenient time.
"The conversation was very useful, we will talk more on the phone, I appreciate TikTok's approval, and we both look forward to meeting at APEC," the US president concluded.
Earlier in the day, China Central Television (CCTV) also reported on a telephone conversation between Xi Jinping and Trump. During the meeting, the Chinese leader noted that the United States should avoid unilateral trade restrictions. Speaking about the TikTok platform, the Chinese president noted that the Chinese government respects the wishes of enterprises that comply with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as balances interests.
