US President Donald Trump will not impose conditions on the conclusion of an agreement between Russia and Ukraine. This was announced on September 19 by Matthew Whitaker, Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, in an interview with Fox News.

"He (Trump. — Ed.) will not set these conditions [of the settlement]. A peace agreement is possible only when it is accepted by both sides," Whitaker said.

He noted that the United States plans to use pressure levers to accelerate the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

On September 9, Trump said he was still determined to achieve a settlement in Ukraine. On September 15, he expressed confidence in an early meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. On September 18, Trump said he hoped for good news regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine soon.
