The economist named the rules of conduct during the visit of collectors
Any visit by collectors, even within the framework of the law, is a stressful situation, but knowledge of the rules of conduct allows you to avoid escalation of the conflict. On September 22, Elvira Glukhova, an economist and founder of the Lender company, told Izvestia the rules of conduct and the visit of collectors that will help protect rights and make the debt payment process psychologically easier.
"First of all, calmly clarify the employee's full name, organization, and legal basis of the visit. Ask for a certificate and documents about the transfer of debt. Write down or photograph the information you receive," Glukhova recommends.
She emphasizes the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding acting on emotions.
The expert recalls that since 2017, collectors are required to be on the FSSP register. If the agency is not in the registry, their actions are illegal. You have every right not to contact them. If there are threats and pressure, the police should be called.
The specialist also advises to record any violations, including attempts to enter the apartment without consent, threats and communication outside the set time.
"Do not raise your tone, calmly specify the amount of debt, the accrual system and penalties. Request documents on the transfer of the claim and the calculation of the debt," the economist suggested.
The expert advises to take the initiative and suggest solutions such as installments, partial payments or a written restructuring plan.
In case of violations by collectors, the economist recommends collecting evidence and contacting the police, the FSSP and Rospotrebnadzor. Do not be afraid of "black" collectors. Moreover, with the right approach, collectors can become allies in solving financial problems.
On August 31, Artyom Sheikin, First Deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on State Construction, announced the entry into force of new measures regulating the activities of collectors. It was clarified that the changes will take effect on September 1, 2025 and will be aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens' rights and increasing transparency in debt collection.
