Roskomnadzor stated the need to support the country's digital sovereignty

The most important sign of digital sovereignty is the ability of the national digital system to continue to work effectively both in the face of external and internal attempts to interfere in the country's system. Andrey Lipov, the head of Roskomnadzor, told Izvestia about this on September 19.

"There are only a few countries with such full—fledged digital sovereignty, even fewer than those with nuclear weapons. Russia, the United States, China — only a few are able to create and maintain digital sovereignty of this level," Lipov said.

The head of Roskomnadzor explained that the most important sign of digital sovereignty is the ability of the national digital system to continue to work effectively both in case of external attempts to disconnect us from the foreign Internet, and in case of interference in the operation of digital services within the country.

The digital ecosystem of services and the digital security infrastructure on which this system confidently operates are the main directions for the development of digital sovereignty, Lipov noted.

"We have the most important elements of digital sovereignty. These are primarily Russian search engines, social networks, an app store, video platforms, and a messenger. They give us information independence," the head of the department emphasized.
