Leningrad Region to develop territorial brand
The Agency for Economic Development of the Leningrad Region (AERO) is developing the territorial brand of the region. Anastasia Mikhalchenko, director of the agency, told about this at the Baltic Regional Forum (BRIEF).
Speaking at a meeting of the council for improving the investment climate in the region, she noted that the main purpose of this work is to bring together those who already live in the region, as well as attract new residents, especially young people, to work and relax.
According to Mikhalchenko, when developing the brand, a unified visual and semantic system will be created that will take into account the various potentials of the region — investment, industrial, cultural, historical and tourist.
The Director of AERO added that such work should be carried out in cooperation with large regional businesses, both within the framework of integrated industrial tourism projects and within the framework of joint projects on environmental restoration of territories.
Commenting on the contribution of business to the creation of a territorial brand, Philip Morris International in Russia (FMI in Russia), Corporate Affairs Manager for the North region Elena Kiyanova noted the company's consistent long-term work on environmental and social responsibility issues. For example, a production facility located in the Leningrad Region, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is involved in a project to improve the Lebyazhy Nature Reserve and the Bianchi Meadow natural landscape. A corresponding agreement was concluded at SPIEF 2025.
According to Kiyanova, the company intends to continue working together with the regions. She also expressed confidence that such cooperation would benefit the residents of the region and tourists who would visit the ecological trails of the Leningrad region.
