Bloomberg reported on India's continued purchases of Russian oil
Companies from India have not refused to purchase oil from Russia, despite the resumption of trade negotiations between New Delhi and Washington. This was reported by Bloomberg on September 19.
"Indian oil refineries have no plans to abandon Russian crude oil, as domestic demand for fuel is recovering after the monsoon season, even though New Delhi is resuming trade negotiations with Washington, and both sides are seeking to conclude a deal," the material says.
Anonymous sources told the publication that oil purchases are expected to remain active in the coming months, but their volumes may be lower than the record levels of recent years.
According to Bloomberg, Indian officials have not received an order to stop shipments or take any other action. The situation may change as trade negotiations with the United States progress and India seeks possible compromises, but "there is currently no such plan," the agency notes.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick said on September 11 that the United States could conclude a trade deal with India after it refuses to purchase Russian oil.
On September 4, American leader Donald Trump abandoned a trade agreement with India over Russian oil. The source said that India had offered a significant reduction in duties on American goods, but this did not help to conclude a deal.
