On September 18, the exhibition "SVO. Defenders of the Fatherland", created on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The project partners are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the RIA Novosti news Agency, the Russian TASS News Agency and the Studio of Military Artists named after M.B. Grekov.

"The main purpose of the exhibition is not only to perpetuate the memory of the exploits of those who fight on the fronts of their war, but also to clearly show who and what Russia is fighting against, what a huge force (as has happened more than once in our history) united to weaken, or even destroy our country, abandon traditional values. and in the end – to break the spirit. Our task is to contrast enemy propaganda with a truthful, factual and documentary picture of the unfolding events – often difficult, dramatic, but leaving no one indifferent. This is the only way, I am sure, to foster respect for the participants of the special operation and the desire to be proud of its heroes – through knowledge of real events and emotional immersion in the frontline atmosphere of the special operation," said Alexander Shkolnik, Director General of the Victory Museum, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The new large-scale project was presented in two locations at once: in the main building of the museum on Poklonnaya Gora and in the Museum "G.O.R.A.". With the help of modern multimedia technologies, interactive installations, authentic artifacts, the exposition shows the fate of real people, the exploits of our soldiers-contemporaries defending the inhabitants of the new subjects of the Russian Federation.

In the main building of the museum, a new museum space allows visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of everyday life at the front and fierce battles on the front line in the free zone. The exhibition, consisting of six sections – "Operation Z", "Voice of the Front", "Chronicle of Exploits", "Saur-Grave", "Heroes of Z", "Vera", includes over 250 relics. These are award documents, letters and items of equipment of the participants of the SVO, items of front-line life handed over by military personnel and their families. Among the exhibits are samples of weapons and military equipment, including the unmanned vehicles Siberia-2 and Sibiryachok-4.

The materials of the exhibition draw parallels between the exploits of the past and the present. For example, the interactive zone shows the stories of Heroes who participated in special operations and Heroes of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. Special attention is paid to the Guards units: archival documents and photographs will demonstrate the continuity of military traditions from the Great Patriotic War to the present day. The exhibition also includes items of church utensils and materials about the activities of the military clergy. Among them is a fragment of the gilded coating of the dome of the main cathedral of the Assumption of St. Nicholas Monastery and the molten bell, destroyed during the fighting near Ugledar, and other rarities. Visitors will also see works by contemporary painters from the M.B. Grekov Studio of Military Artists dedicated to the events of the special military operation.

A unique part of the exhibition was the "Interactive map of the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine", created with the support of RIA Novosti. It reflects the dynamics of combat operations in real time. And on a specially recreated brick wall with bullet holes, key events from 2014 to 2022 are shown using a multimedia projector. In addition, the special audio session "The Voice of the Front" presents modern frontline songs and poetry.

The central element of the exhibition was a sculptural group, a copy of the bas–relief of the Saur-Grave Memorial Complex in Donbass, dedicated to the heroes of the SVR.

The new exhibition is complemented by an exhibition of damaged captured military equipment, which is presented in the museum "G.O.R.A." on an area of 8 thousand square meters. meters. Visitors will see more than 20 samples of combat vehicles manufactured by NATO countries and Ukraine, destroyed during the war. They clearly show the scale of foreign military intervention. Among the exhibits are a Mitsubishi L200 car, a Kozak–5 armored car, M113 and YPR-765 armored personnel carriers, BMC Kirpi, International MaxxPro, Mastiff armored vehicles, Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicle, M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, M1A1SA Abrams tank and others. The exhibition also includes photographs by war correspondents of RIA Novosti and TASS.

"First of all, we are counting on young people, although the exhibition will be interesting and informative for all audiences, regardless of age and occupation," said Alexander Shkolnik.
