Avtozavod Saint Petersburg, which has put the Lada Iskra model on the assembly line, has stopped production of Xcite crossovers. Ivan Mironov, the general director of the enterprise, told about this on September 19, the Izvestia correspondent reports.

"Currently, Xcite is not being built. But this does not mean that the project is closed. We are open to new business cases and are negotiating with a number of partners," Mironov said.

The Xcite brand was created in 2024 by AvtoVAZ's partner, Avtozavod Saint Petersburg. The production of cars was launched in the late spring of that year at the former Nissan plant, the Xcite model range includes two crossovers based on Chery models. They are sold and serviced in Russia through the Lada dealer network.

As Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, previously reported in his Telegram channel, almost 20 thousand Xcites have been assembled in St. Petersburg in a year since the start of production. More than 75% of the production was accounted for by the X-Cross 7 model. By June of this year, according to him, about 8 thousand cars of the brand had been sold.

On July 2, Avtozavod Saint Petersburg informed Izvestia that in June 2025, a record number of Xcite vehicles were sold through the Lada dealer network for the entire time the brand has been present on the Russian market - 1,618 units. Dmitry Kostromin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at AvtoVAZ, denied rumors about the possible closure of the Xcite project.
