- The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced no plans to impose new sanctions against Russia.
South Korea currently has no plans to impose additional sanctions against Russia following Europe. This was announced on September 19 by the country's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun during a press conference with foreign journalists in Seoul.
"The introduction of additional sanctions or the termination of communication — we are not going to do either," the minister's words are reported by RIA Novosti.
The day before, the newspaper Politico reported that the European Commission (EC) may put forward an official proposal for a new package of sanctions against Russia on September 19 or 22. According to the newspaper, restrictions are expected to be imposed against a number of Russian banks and energy companies, as well as against refineries in India and China that purchase Russian oil.
