- Ulyanov commented on the number of abstentions on the anti-Russian resolution of the IAEA
The adoption of an anti-Russian resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine at the general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was accompanied by a record number of abstainers. Mikhail Ulyanov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the international organizations in Vienna, said this on September 18, commenting on the voting results in his post on the social network X (former.Twitter).
Ulyanov noted that such a large number of abstainers is a positive sign.
"Not bad. Common sense paves the way forward," he wrote.
62 members of the IAEA voted for the adoption of the resolution, which is one third of all participants. In turn, 46 countries abstained from voting, including Hungary and the United States.
On September 12, the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, announced that the IAEA leadership was not responding to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). According to him, the agency should take steps to prevent the nuclear threat posed by the Kiev regime.
