The defendants in the criminal case on the murder of Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and Biological Protection Forces (RCBZ), and his assistant were charged with organizing a terrorist community and participating in it. This was reported on September 19 by law enforcement agencies.
"All the defendants <...> in the final version were added to the organization of a terrorist community and participation in it (Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," TASS reports the words of law enforcement officers.
It is noted that the defendants in the case can receive up to 15 years in prison, the organizer of the crime faces a life sentence. None of them pleaded guilty at the investigation stage.
Kirillov and his assistant died on the morning of December 17, 2024, as a result of the detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow.
On January 16, a Moscow court detained three defendants in the criminal case of Kirillov's murder — Batukhan Tochiev, Akhmadjon Kurbonov and Ramazan Padiev (all listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation). According to law enforcement agencies, the detainees, on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), provided housing and personal transport for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack against Kirillov.
On August 17, the investigative authorities completed a preliminary investigation into the murder case. On September 8, the Investigative Committee of Russia recognized 11 people as victims of the terrorist attack. It was clarified that the number of defendants in the criminal case had increased to five people.
