Car owners in Russia can legally keep or purchase beautiful license plates when selling or buying a car. Ekaterina Solovyova, an auto lawyer, told about this on September 19.

"There are several legitimate schemes that allow you to keep beautiful rooms. When selling a car, the owner can write an application and keep the license plates for himself — usually for up to one year," Solovyova explained to RIA Novosti.

The expert also noted that a popular scheme is to buy an old car with attractive license plates: after being reissued for a new car, the old car, for example, is disposed of, and the license plates remain with the new owner.

"So far, it is legal to get the desired license plates only together with the car, all operations are strictly tied to a specific vehicle," the car lawyer added.
