A plane carrying Russians evacuated from the Gaza Strip landed in Moscow.
More than 50 Russians evacuated from the Gaza Strip have returned to Russia, and they have now arrived at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on September 19.
"More than 50 of our compatriots have returned to their homeland. For almost two years, they lived in constant fear of carpet bombing. And now, finally, they are at home, now their lives are not in danger," correspondent Vladislav Kharchenko reports.
Fayzitdin Nurmatov, a volunteer at the charity foundation, said that back in 2023, the situation in Gaza was not so difficult. But after the closure of the borders, humanitarian aid supplies stopped. Cargo began to be delivered to the region only on a commercial basis.
"In order to purchase at least a bag of flour, you need to have at least $400-500," the volunteer pointed out.
It is specified that 10 people from the arrived group will go to St. Petersburg. Other destinations include Ivanovo, Arkhangelsk, and Ingushetia. However, most of them — 34 refugees — will go to Makhachkala, Nurmatov said.
Earlier, on August 23, the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that it was being blocked from importing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, despite overcrowding in warehouses in Egypt and Jordan.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an offensive on Gaza City on August 20. It is located in the Palestinian semi-enclave of the same name. It was noted that Israel currently controls the outskirts of the city.
