The Venezuelan parliament has approved an agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation with Russia. This was reported on September 18 by the Venezolana de Television channel with reference to MP Roy Das.

"During the first discussion, the National Assembly (NA) unanimously approved a draft law approving the Agreement on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between Venezuela and Russia," the publication says.

It is noted that the agreement was signed by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the TV channel, this agreement is aimed at ensuring long-term cooperation and solidarity between the two countries. This partnership also indicates the countries' desire for a multipolar world based on law, sovereignty and equality of States.

Earlier, on September 1, the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated full support and solidarity with the Venezuelan authorities. The Russian side also strongly condemned the use of political and military pressure on independent states.

On August 28, it was reported that the US Navy had sent at least seven ships and a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles to the shores of Venezuela. It is specified that a nuclear high-speed attack submarine was also deployed. According to the newspaper, the US actions have led to increased tensions in relations with Venezuela and other Latin American countries.
