Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, said on September 18 that a settlement of the conflict in the Gaza Strip would not happen in the near future.

He also noted that the United States has not changed its position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Nebenzia added that a strike on Doha would invalidate any claims about Israel's readiness for a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
