The Moscow garrison military court sentenced Tarkhan Eldukaev to 14.5 years in a penal colony in the case of the attempted murder of businessman brothers Tahir and Telman Gurshumov. This was announced on September 18 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

On August 21, the jury found Eldukaev not guilty of the attempted murder of singer Avraham Russo, but guilty in the Gurshumov case.

Eldukayev was detained and arrested in October 2023. According to the investigation, the conflict between businessman Tahir Gurshumov and ex-Cherkizovsky market owner Telman Ismailov led to Ismailov instructing his security guard Eldukaev to hire killers to eliminate his opponent. On December 23, 1996, an unknown gunman in the entrance of a house on Shcherbakovskaya Street in Moscow shot the Gurshumov brothers several times, as a result of which one of them died and the other was seriously injured.
