The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation told about a new method of fraud by ordering flowers

Fraudsters, luring out codes under the pretext of confirming the order of flowers, carry out multicomponent attacks against girls. This was announced on September 18 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to the press service of the department, fraudsters often use a scenario with an anonymous flower order.

"An anonymous order has been placed for you — a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a small note. Can you tell me, please, what time would it be convenient for you to receive it from the courier?" — it says in a typical fraudulent message posted on the Telegram channel of the department.

The Interior Ministry stressed that such "surprises" serve as the beginning of more complex attacks in which criminals lure out authorization codes. This data can give them access to important services or be used for psychological pressure.

Only 10% of victims of fraud manage to return the stolen goods, experts say.

On September 17, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation called the signs of fake flower online stores. It was clarified that the main signs of fake stores include the use of other people's photos, the absence of an official website, the inability to pay online and the publication of legal data. In addition, addresses often belong to third-party organizations that are not related to the sale of flowers.
