- The daughter of the founder of the "Combination" demanded to recognize her rights to 16 songs of the group.
Victoria Oleinikova, the daughter of Alexander Shishinin, the founder of the Combination group, who was killed in 1993, demanded that her rights to 16 musical works of the band be recognized, including the hits "American boy" and "Russian girl". This was announced on September 18 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the hall of the Moscow Arbitration Court, where a preliminary hearing was held.
The defendants in the case are the Russian Society of Authors (RAO), the Jam publishing house and composer Vitaly Okorokov. Victoria claims that she inherited the exclusive intellectual property rights of Shishinin, who was the author and producer of the songs. The rights were acquired by will after the death of her grandfather.
Okorokov, who was also present in court, refuted Oleinikova's arguments. According to him, Shishinin had nothing to do with the creation of lyrics and music and was only the artistic director of the band. The authors of the works, according to him, were Tatiana Ivanova, other members of the group and the composer himself.
"He wanted to be a co-author, we took it as a joke. He was my supervisor, you understand. I'm generally a serious composer, I didn't expect that these songs would be listened to for decades," said Okorokov.
Commenting on the situation to Izvestia, he added that there are only two "non—existent poets" in world history - Shakespeare and Shishinin.
Later it became known that Tatiana Ivanova intends to participate in the process as a third party.
Earlier, on March 19, producer Stas Namin commented on the court's right to use the Gorky Park Group brand at concerts. According to him, the legal dispute was initiated by three former members of the band, whom he recruited 35 years ago "to accompany" vocalist and songwriter Nikolai Noskov. The Gorky Park group disbanded in 1990 and did not actually exist for more than 30 years. The revival after a 30-year hiatus took place at the SNC-35 Festival on August 29, 2022. In June last year, the court refused to ban Namin from selling the band's CDs and records, which were released by the Moroz Records recording studio.
