MWM reported the presence of nuclear weapons in 15 countries of the world
Today, there are 15 States in the world that are capable of conducting nuclear strikes. This was announced on September 18 by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The publication classified the countries into four groups by type of weapons and their volume.
The authors of the material included the United States, Russia and China in the first group — all three countries are armed with both tactical and strategic nuclear weapons. This is the only group of countries with the ability to install nuclear weapons on missile systems, strategic bombers and submarines, as well as hit targets at a distance of 5,600 km.
The second group includes countries that have not signed the "Treaty on the Non—Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons" - the DPRK, India, Pakistan and Israel. It is noted that it is the DPRK that has the widest nuclear arsenal among all the listed countries.
A third group of countries, including Britain and France, has limited nuclear capabilities — ballistic missiles deployed mainly on nuclear submarines. It clarifies that both countries suffer from an insufficient variety of means of delivery and are seriously limited in their ability to launch tactical nuclear strikes, despite the availability of strategic deterrents.
The authors included Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Belgium, Italy and Belarus in the fourth group. They consider the first five countries to be nuclear allies of the United States — all of them have agreements on the joint use of nuclear weapons. It is reported that Belarus signed a similar agreement with Russia in 2023. Countries that have signed agreements on the joint use of nuclear weapons do not have the autonomy to use their nuclear threat assets, which means that Washington or Moscow may deny them access to weapons.
On September 5, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, announced that Russia's competitive advantage is the nuclear triad. He expressed the hope that its availability would help solve other problems.
