- The Ministry of Health announced a stable situation for influenza and acute respiratory viral infections
To date, the epidemiological situation of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in the country remains stable and controlled. All healthcare systems are functioning normally, there is no overload of the medical network and no shortage of medicines. Vladimir Chulanov, the chief freelance specialist for infectious diseases at the Russian Ministry of Health, told Izvestia on September 18.
"On the eve of the 2025-2026 season, comprehensive preparations are underway: vaccination of the population against influenza has been organized, a sufficient number of vaccines have been delivered to the regions in a timely manner, which allows for the necessary coverage and the formation of collective immunity," he said.
According to Chulanov, the Ministry of Health pays special attention to the issues of drug provision. Thus, every year, in preparation for the epidemic season, the material and technical base of medical organizations is being equipped, stocks of medicines, disinfectants and personal protective equipment are being formed.
"Taking into account the available retrospective data, the necessary resources are calculated annually, including medicines, on the basis of which reserves are formed. The procedures for routing patients in case of an epidemic outbreak are being updated," the Ministry of Health specialist added.
He noted that the relevant issues were discussed at the operational headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Health with the regions, chaired by Minister Mikhail Murashko.
In addition, remote technologies are being actively introduced. The experience gained during the COVID-19 pandemic has proven the effectiveness of telemedicine solutions: today they make it possible to relieve primary care by providing remote monitoring of patients' condition and counseling without the need for a visit to a doctor.
Allergist, immunologist Lyudmila Lapa told on September 12 how to distinguish acute respiratory viral infections from autumn allergies. She stressed that allergies and seasonal acute respiratory viral infections have different natures: the first is a reaction of the immune system to external stimuli such as mold or flowers, and the second is associated with infections and viruses.
