- Lavrov pointed out that there were no problems due to the introduction of new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sees no problem in the possibility of new sanctions against Russia. He told about this on September 18 in an interview with the Big Game program on Channel One.
"I don't see any problems with the fact that sanctions can be applied against Russia," Lavrov said, the text of the interview was published on the agency's website.
Earlier, on September 16, the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula der Leyen discussed new anti-Russian sanctions with US President Donald Trump. On the same day, it became known that the EC continues to discuss the 19th package of sanctions against Russia and will present it "when it is ready." It was noted that Brussels did not specify the exact dates for updating the sanctions list.
On September 16, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on what was happening and suggested that the EU replace the name of the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions with the term "pipeline" and calm down.
On September 17, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the European Union and European countries mistakenly believe that the continuation of the sanctions policy can somehow influence Russia's position. He added that in fact, sanctions are harming the European Union itself.
