Zakharova ridiculed Zelensky's "canonization meme" in Ukraine
The destruction of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) continues through the so-called "meme-canonization" of representatives of the Kiev regime. This was announced on September 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the cover of one of the Ukrainian magazines, where President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and the head of his office, Andrei Ermak, are depicted as saints.
"I thought it was fake. But no. Truth. The destruction of the UOC continues with the meme-canonization of ghouls," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
She believes that the Ukrainian media is probably hinting that the people are ready to accept any symbols in order to get rid of the current regime.
On September 2, the head of the Ukrainian State Service for Ethnopolitics, Viktor Yelensky, spoke about filing a lawsuit with the court to terminate the activities of the Kiev metropolis of the canonical UOC. According to him, the lawsuit was filed with the Supreme Administrative Court in accordance with the law.
Earlier, on August 28, Archpriest Dmitry Kiselyov called Kiev's ban by the canonical UOC an attack on Christianity and religious freedom. According to the clergyman, Ukraine is trying to ban the very existence of Orthodoxy in the country.
