A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Zapad group of troops hit the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv region and the DPR. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 230 militants, three Western-made armored fighting vehicles, 19 vehicles and an artillery piece, as well as ten electronic warfare stations and five ammunition depots.

In addition, the Southern Group of Troops occupied more advantageous lines and positions and defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Seversk, Perezdnoye, Fedorovka, Blokuzminovka, Verolyubovka, Maykoe, Pleshcheyevka and Zvanovka in the DPR.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The manpower and equipment of three mechanized, assault, amphibious assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, marine brigades, air defense brigades and National Guard brigades were defeated in areas of settlements <...> of the Donetsk People's Republic. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 435 military personnel, six armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles and three artillery pieces," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated energy facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, storage sites and production workshops for long-range drones, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas. In turn, air defense systems shot down 106 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 84,971 UAVs, 628 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,157 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,592 multiple rocket launchers, 29,668 field artillery and mortars, 42,118 pieces of special vehicles.
