A court in Moscow has banned the sale of carsharing accounts
The Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow granted the prosecutor's office's claim and blocked websites selling accounts for short-term car rentals. This is evidenced by the case materials, which were reviewed by Izvestia on September 18.
"Illegal possession of a vehicle without the purpose of theft is a completed crime from the moment the vehicle starts moving or the vehicle moves from the place where it was located," the court clarified.
It is emphasized that the illegal purchase of carsharing accounts helps to avoid administrative liability in case of traffic violations or accidents.
Earlier, on August 23, Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, said that over 10 years Muscovites and guests of the capital had made over 360 million trips by carsharing vehicles. According to him, currently Moscow carsharing offers citizens 41 thousand cars of different classes. At the same time, the average age of a carsharing car is 1.5 years.
