On September 17, at a press conference held at the Evening Moscow Media Center, Alexey Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma, answered questions from students of the Pulse School of Journalism and the Novy Feyerverk studio for young correspondents at the VM editorial office. Alexander Kupriyanov, editor-in-chief of the Vechernyaya Moskva newspaper, and Andrey Zhukov, author of the HSE Media Workshop project, also took part in the meeting with the junior staff. In his welcoming speech, Alexander Kupriyanov noted that, despite the development of remote technologies, live communication will always play a key role in journalism.

"Everything is changing. Approaches are changing, journalism itself is changing. But there are still a few important things, such as the reporter's curiosity and courage," said the editor—in-chief of VM.

Young journalists asked the chairman of the capital's parliament many questions on various topics. One of them concerned the development of the school system in the capital.

"This year we have about 50 new school buildings. Starting in 2026, 100 new school buildings will be built annually. But the question is also what we fill these buildings with: educational programs, the Moscow Electronic School, which is incredibly popular, including in the regions," said Alexey Shaposhnikov.

Many participants of the press conference were interested in the nuances of building a career path, including in politics. Alexey Shaposhnikov shared his personal experience on how to get from a municipal deputy to chairman of the Moscow City Duma.

Some of the questions related to current legislative initiatives of the capital's parliament. Including those related to the support of participants in a special military operation and their family members.

"Assistance to the border territories, participants of the SVR and their families is one of the priorities of the Moscow City Duma. Deputies and staff of the capital's parliament support individual fighters and entire units, the injured residents of the border regions," said Alexey Shaposhnikov.
