Lada Iskra St. Petersburg-built cars sent to dealers
Serial production of Lada Iskra cars has started at the Saint Petersburg Automobile Plant production site. Locally assembled cars began to be shipped to the Lada dealer network, the company's press service told Izvestia on September 18.
At the current stage of the project, Lada Iskra assembly kits are being delivered to Avtozavod Saint Petersburg, including a painted body, and separately a power unit, interior elements, chassis and other components. There are about 1 thousand assembly units in total.
Production operations are carried out on the conveyor for the installation of sound insulation, instrument panel, seat belts, ESP, interior upholstery and trunk, engine and front suspension are reassembled, bumpers, wheels, moldings are mounted.

The assembled, refilled, and configured vehicle rolls off the assembly line onto the quality inspection line. Specialists evaluate the compliance of the interior and exterior with the criteria established at the factory, adjust the suspension parameters, adjust the light, calibrate the systems. After that, the effectiveness of the braking system is checked on the stand, and the tightness of the car is confirmed. Then it is transferred to a road test, which confirms the behavior in conditions close to real operation.
The Saint Petersburg Automobile Plant used to produce Nissan cars, and it has been operating since 2009. After the Japanese company left Russia, the plant launched the production of crossovers of the Russian Xcite brand.
Sales of Lada Iskra started on July 20 in Tolyatti, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Delivery to dealers in other regions is expected within a few weeks. The Iskra sedan costs from 1.25 million rubles in the basic configuration with a manual transmission. The most expensive modification of the model, the raised SW Cross station wagon in the maximum configuration with a CVT, was estimated at 1.8 million rubles.
