Sofia Fedchenko, coach of Russian figure skater Alina Gorbacheva, announced on September 18 that her ward was injured during the preparation for the qualifying tournament of the 2026 Olympics.

"In early August, Alina and another adult athlete clashed at a training camp in France. As a result, Alina was injured — a deep cut to her left leg," Fedchenko wrote on her page on the Instagram social network (recognized in the Russian Federation as an extremist organization, its activities are prohibited in Russia).

It is noted that the figure skater is currently engaged in restoring physical fitness.

Gorbacheva was a substitute at the qualifying tournament of the 2026 Olympics, which will be held on September 19-21 in Beijing. Russia is represented by Adelia Petrosyan, adds Sport-Express.

Earlier, on September 15, Daniil Gleikhengauz, choreographer of the Eteri Tutberidze group, announced that he had been denied admission to the qualifying tournament of figure skaters for the 2026 Olympic Games. He also expressed surprise at the rejection, stressing that he could not imagine that he did not meet any criteria.
