Putin approves new uniform requirements for Russian military
According to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, starting in 2026, uniforms for the Russian military must be manufactured by domestic organizations in Russia. By 2027, it is planned that the uniform will also be made from fabrics and knitted fabrics produced in Russia.
The decree concerns the procurement of clothing for the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in accordance with the legislation on the contract system of public procurement and the state defense order, RIA Novosti reported on September 18.
The President instructed the government, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take measures to ensure the supply of clothing manufactured in Russia, starting from January 1, 2026. By 2027, it will be necessary to ensure the use of only domestically produced fabrics.
The purpose of this decree is to exclude purchases of foreign clothing and materials for its production, which helps to strengthen domestic production and reduce dependence on foreign supplies.
Earlier, on September 17, the State Duma Committee on Defense recommended the adoption in the first reading of a bill that offers the possibility of conscription throughout the calendar year. In addition, it involves the introduction of special terms of conscription for certain categories of citizens.
