Khabarovsk Territory topped the rating on the incidence of drug addiction
Khabarovsk Krai became the leader among Russian regions in terms of the incidence of drug addiction with a first-time diagnosis in 2024, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced on September 18.
According to RIA Novosti, the incidence in the region was 19.6 cases per 100,000 population. The Novosibirsk Region came in second place (18.4), and the Sverdlovsk Region came in third (17.7). The top five also included the Krasnoyarsk Territory (16.5) and the Sakhalin Region (15.7).
"The highest incidence is recorded in the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts, where the rates significantly exceed the national average," the Ministry of Health said.
Among the regions with the lowest rates were Chuvashia (1.4), Belgorod Region (3.2) and Orenburg Region (3.4). No cases have been identified in the Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Districts in 2024.
