The court formally charged Amirkhanyan with attempted murder of Kiva.
Businessman Araik Amirkhanyan, accused of the attempted murder of Ukrainian politician Ilya Kiva, has been formally charged under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder"). This was announced on September 18 by a source of Izvestia in law enforcement agencies.
It is specified that the man faces up to 10 years in prison. The relevant information was also confirmed in court.
The businessman has already been tried in a case of bribing a bailiff. Earlier, in mid-July, the Dmitrov City Court sentenced Amirkhanyan to six years in a penal colony. Prior to that, he was arrested by the Tverskoy Court of Moscow in a case of embezzlement, but later the article was tightened to bribing an official.
Earlier, the businessman was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship.
On September 16, it was reported that a court in the Moscow region arrested Amirkhanyan as part of an investigation into the murder of former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ilya Kiva.
Kiva's body was found on December 6, 2023 at the Velich Country club in a park near Moscow. According to the Izvestia source, the killer fired twice, approaching the politician from behind. The first bullet hit the heart area, the second one hit the head.
Later, on December 11, 2023, the Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), that the SBU had been carefully preparing an operation to eliminate Kiva for a long time. Her agents studied all possible details of the routes of the former MP, his daily routine and habits.
