The Ruviki Encyclopedia has started using artificial intelligence to update materials and protect them. At the same time, the updates are monitored by researchers. Vladimir Medeyko, CEO of the platform, announced this at the Kazan digital week forum on Thursday, September 18.

Medeyko noted that traditional online encyclopedias are updated by volunteers. This practice also exists in Ruviki: in addition to the editorial staff, the encyclopedia pages are updated monthly by more than a thousand volunteers who make about 8-10 thousand edits.

"But what are volunteers who write an encyclopedia? This is the human factor. Today, the author is in the mood to update data on an interesting topic, but not tomorrow. In addition, even strict rules for creating encyclopedic articles may not always protect the reader from the opinions of a particular person in the text. In conditions of a saturated information field, we rely on automation. AI services are becoming assistants to academic experts in solving routine tasks," he said.

So, in 2025, Ruviki has already launched AI services for updating materials in real time, their forced updating, content enrichment and automatic article generation. At the same time, the final control over publications remains with leading experts: Ruviki is expanding cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences, museums, libraries and archives. Since the beginning of 2025, with the help of artificial intelligence, 32 thousand new articles in Russian, 12 thousand materials for sections in the languages of the peoples of Russia, and 20 thousand articles have been enriched under the control of the editorial staff at Ruviki.

In addition, solutions to preserve the quality and security of knowledge are being actively implemented. For example, vandal-proof edits are detected and removed using an anti-vandal bot, and the automatic content validation service monitors the risks of violating Russian legislation and labels such materials. There are plans to introduce GPT patrolling on the platform, which will help monitor edits made by users.

"Technology minimizes the risks of information becoming outdated or subjective, but experts have the final say. "Ruviki" is an encyclopedia of facts. Their reliability is protected not only by scientists, but also by intelligent systems of a new generation," Vladimir Medeyko emphasized.
