The number of road accidents in Moscow decreased by 8% in a year
The number of road accidents in Moscow in the first eight months of 2025 decreased by 8% compared to the same period last year. The death toll in accidents decreased by 29%, the Moscow Department of Transport announced in its Telegram channel on September 17.
In Moscow, a decrease in accidents was recorded for all key types of accidents. In January – August of this year, compared to the same period in 2024, there were fewer collisions (-6%), pedestrian collisions (-12%), accidents with children under 18 (-16%), collisions with obstacles and standing cars (-9%), as well as rollovers of cars, motorcycles or means of individual mobility (-34%).
The Department of Transport emphasized that road supervisors annually think over and implement projects to improve traffic conditions on the streets and roads of the capital, and the data center and Traffic Patrol crews monitor roads in the capital around the clock. In addition, the installation of photo- and video-recording systems reduces the accident rate by up to 30% in places where accidents have occurred, the department noted.
Earlier, on September 12, it was reported that following the results of eight months of 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5%. The number of people killed and injured in road accidents caused by drunk drivers also decreased by 70.9% and 20.4%, respectively, during this period.
