Belarusian Foreign Ministry urges Poland to open borders
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry said it expects Poland to restore normal cross-border cooperation. This was announced on September 17 on the agency's website.
"We expect Poland to show readiness for reasonable and balanced decisions that will contribute to the restoration of normal cross—border cooperation," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that Belarus has also provided 10 days of delay for 1,400 Polish trucks for unhindered departure from the republic.
"This is not just a gesture of goodwill, but an extraordinary measure demonstrating our continued commitment to good neighborliness and a responsible approach to international relations," the country's Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, on September 12, Poland closed the border crossings operating on the borders with Belarus. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, Marcin Kervinsky, explained that the adoption of this decision was conditioned by the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises Zapad-2025.
On September 15, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that he had no illusions about the imminent resumption of dialogue with Warsaw. He stressed that Poles and Belarusians are not enemies of each other, but Poland "continues to make unfounded claims and accusations" against Minsk.
