The European Commission has proposed sanctions against Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. This was reported on September 17 by the Reuters news agency.

"The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, also proposed a package of sanctions against two Israeli ministers, as well as aggressive settlers and members of Hamas," the article says.

The European Commission also proposed suspending free trade agreements for Israeli goods due to the war in Gaza, but this measure did not receive sufficient support among the member states of the European Union, the agency writes.

Earlier, on June 10, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions against Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The British Government noted that the decision was taken in response to repeated incitement to violence against the Palestinian communities by ministers.
