Belgorod official was suspected of deceiving victims of the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The former deputy head of the administration of the Grayvoronsky district of the Belgorod region is suspected of fraud related to receiving a bribe for assistance in paying compensation for a damaged car. This was reported on September 17 in the press service of the Regional Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"A criminal case has been opened against the former deputy head of the eastern territorial administration of the Grayvoronsky city district, suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud committed using official position)," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that the official promised to help citizens collect documents to receive compensation for the damage caused to their cars as a result of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In May 2025, he deceived the owner of the car, promising assistance in receiving payments, although he already had legitimate grounds for compensation. As a result, the owner received 1.3 million rubles, and the suspect took 25 thousand rubles for "help."

The crime was uncovered during operational search activities conducted by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Belgorod region. The press service explains that the maximum penalty is up to six years. Currently, investigative actions are continuing to establish all the circumstances.
