"In order to build a solid reputation capable of continuous development and growth, it is necessary to deeply understand the difference between image and reputation. An image is something that you consciously project externally.: what do you say about yourself, write in your resume and profiles. You are its creator and curator. Reputation is what others say about you, especially when you are not in the room, that is, it is your image passed through the filters of perception, assessment, personal experience and life positions of colleagues," said the specialist.
Berezhnoy said that before entering into a dispute, it is important to clearly define what is being discussed and with whom you are in conflict. Confrontation always brings something new — either a devastating emotional train, or a decision that strengthens your status. Constant monitoring of potential sources of tension is an effective strategy for conflict prevention.
When a conflict does occur, according to the expert, it is important to remember that its structure consists of 80% emotions and only 20% of the rational component. Their strength lies not in suppressing their opponent, but in striving to strengthen both him and themselves, which works towards a common goal within the framework of the "win—win" strategy.
Berezhnoy stated that there are three key steps to protect and strengthen reputation: to take a constructive internal position — to respect both your feelings and those of your opponent; to clearly identify the object of the dispute, turning the conversation into facts and arguments in order to defuse tension; creating a new reality — finding a synergetic solution that integrates the strengths of both approaches..
