Georgia has fully repaid its debt to Russia, which has accumulated over the years. This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

According to the department, which was analyzed by TASS on September 17, at the end of August, there is now a dash in the column where the amount of external debt to the Russian Federation was previously indicated. Previously, Georgia's debt to the Russian Federation consistently amounted to $3.997 million. The last change occurred in February 2025, when the debt was halved from $7.87 million to $3.997 million. Prior to that, in August 2024, Georgia's debt to Russia decreased from $11.618 million to $7.87 million.

Data on Georgia's external debt has been available on the Ministry of Finance's website since 2003. That year, Georgia's total national debt amounted to $1.56 billion, of which $156.9 million was owed to Russia.

The total amount of Georgia's national debt at the end of August 2025 amounted to $9.09 billion, having decreased by $50 million per month. Georgia owes most of its debt to France — $850.9 million. Also in August, Georgia fully repaid its debts to Armenia and Azerbaijan, which amounted to less than $1 million.
