Singer and composer Oleg Gazmanov lent all his retirement savings to a family friend — now the People's Artist of the Russian Federation is fighting for a refund. Roman Kuzmin, the lawyer of the Gazmanov family, told Izvestia about this on September 17.

According to the lawyer, Gevorg Sargsyan borrowed the money from the singer. Gazmanov's wife, Marina, also lent him the funds. The man accused of fraud said that he "invested" the borrowed money, but did not specify where it was invested.

"He (Sarkisian — Ed.) told about the United States of America, about France, about Great Britain, that he has investors in Mexico, that all his investors owe him almost billions. Probably, just a little more, and I would have become friends with Elon Musk," the lawyer explained.

A year later, Sargsyan was asked to repay the debt, but he refused, citing various reasons — from the covid epidemic to his own. Because of this, Sargsyan allegedly could not transfer money from the United States.

Realizing that they could be involved in a fraudulent scheme, the Gazmanovs filed a complaint with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

On September 14, a source from Izvestia reported that Gazmanov and his family had become victims of fraud. The suspect in the fraud turned out to be a family friend Gevorg Sargsyan, and he was detained. As a result, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale"). The next hearing in the case is scheduled for September 24.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
