The scammers started using a new scheme — impersonating school psychologists and sending out phishing links. This was announced by the head of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Yana Lantratova (Fair Russia — For Truth) on Wednesday, September 17.

"At the beginning of the school year, scammers became more active, targeting parents and children. They disguise themselves as school psychologists, send out phishing links and lure out personal data in order to rob bank accounts later," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

First, the scammer contacts the student's parent through a call or message to inform them that the child has not passed the mandatory psychological testing.

"This sounds convincing, especially for anxious parents at the beginning of the school year. They offer to urgently "retake the test" via a special link that leads to a fake website that mimics the Gosuslug portal or a school resource," Lantratova explained.
