- Charlie Kirk's murder accused appears in court in the United States for the first time
Tyler Robinson, a suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist from the United States, appeared in court for the first time via video link. This was reported on September 16 by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
"The 22-year-old man looked disheveled and impassive as the judge read out the charges to him," the newspaper notes.
It is specified that the accused was wearing special clothes to prevent possible suicide attempts. During the entire hearing, he spoke only once, when the judge asked him to introduce himself.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for September 29. It will also be held in an online format.
Political activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated during his speech at the University of Utah, died on September 10. He played a key role in the victory of American President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. The White House was closely monitoring this situation — the "situation room" was involved in the process.
It was also reported about 71-year-old George Zinn, who made a false confession to distract attention from the real killer. It was noted that he was detained for having images of sexual abuse of children on his phone. Zinn will remain in custody without the possibility of posting bail.
On September 16, Robinson was formally charged with capital murder, intentionally or knowingly causing Kirk's death in circumstances that pose a significant risk of death to others.
