The Admiral Golovko frigate struck with a Zircon as part of the Zapad-2025 exercises
The Admiral Golovko frigate used a Zircon hypersonic missile to strike a coastal target from the Barents Sea as part of a joint strategic exercise The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Belarus "West-2025". This was announced on September 16 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"The launch of the Zircon hypersonic missile was carried out from the Barents Sea at the Chizha test site in the Arkhangelsk region. The distance from the launch site to the target position was about 900 km," the report says.
Objective monitoring data confirmed that the missile hit its target. Surface ships of the Kola Flotilla of diverse forces and the White Sea Naval Base of the Northern Fleet were involved in ensuring firing and closing the maneuver area.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of crews of Mi-35M attack helicopters hitting ground targets of a simulated enemy as part of the Zapad-2025 exercises. The crews of Mi-35m attack helicopters inflicted fire damage on a simulated enemy with unguided aircraft missiles.
Zapad-2025 exercises are held from September 12 to September 16. Poland has closed its border with Belarus because of them. On September 15, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced that the US military had attended the Zapad-2025 exercises. In addition, representatives of 23 states, including three from NATO countries, also took part in the exercises.: USA, Turkey and Hungary.
